_ABILITIES:
Sierra is a vampire--specifically, the Founder, or original vampire in Suikoden lore. This comes with it many of the traditional vampiric abilities; turning into a bat, inhuman strength, immortality, and controlling zombies. However, as her vampirism is not traditional in origin (she gained the curse when she inherited the Moon Rune), there are a few notable differences. She does not burn in sunlight, though it does make her sleepy, and she is capable of eating normal human food. She enjoys the taste of blood, and it makes her stronger when she consumes it, but as the heir to the Moon Rune, the rune sustains her, and she does not need to feed unless gravely injured. Holy symbols do make her uneasy, however.
Apart from the standard abilities afforded her from her vampirism, she is reasonably talented at magic. Runes are the source of magic in the Suikoden world, and Sierra possesses three of them.
Runes
Darkness Rune
A child rune of Soul Eater--the True Rune that governs life and death--this rune possesses dark-elemental spells. In canon, its spells carry with them a chance of instant death, but this aspect will be nullified for the purposes of Tanagura. Its second-tier spell (Stealer of Souls) has a health-draining ability.
Though it is a child rune to a True Rune and a bit rarer than the common fire or water runes, the Darkness Rune is not one-of-a-kind, and can be bought in shops in Suikoden 2.
Thunder Rune
Water, fire, wind, lightning, and earth are the five basic elemental runes, and are a dime a dozen in the Suikoden world. The thunder rune is an upgraded version of the lightning rune, and carries with it powerful electric magic.
Moon Rune
One of the 27 True Runes that govern the fate of the Suikoden World. Those chosen by a True Rune are frozen in time, ageless and immune to disease, at the cost of becoming a slave to the will of the Rune. The Moon Rune curses its bearer with undeath and madness, and is the reason for Sierra's vampirism. Over decades hiding alone in a cabin in the woods, she gradually learned to control the Rune, and no longer suffers from the associated madness.

Sierra Mikain is a sweet, demure young lady who could never harm a fly, and by that I mean that Sierra Mikain is a bossy, arrogant old hag forever in the body of a young woman thanks to the curse of vampirism.
Perhaps once an idealistic girl, Sierra founded Blue Moon village to shelter those who came to her seeking the mercy of her fangs. She loved them all, and placed the Moon Rune upon a pedestal in the center of the village that they might live peacefully without the need to prey on humans. She became known as the Coven Mistress, the Founder, and Sierra the Elder, and she foolishly accepted any who wished to become part of her family.
When the Rune was stolen by a newcomer named Neclord, she, as the original vampire, was the only one unaffected by its loss. She had to watch her family revert to beasts preying on human life or else wither away into dust. Even her lover, Rean Penenberg, fearing death, left her to live on the blood of humans. It destroyed her to see them reduced to this, knowing it was her own naiveté that led to the death of her family, and to take responsibility, she set off to hunt down those who chose to live on death and reclaim her stolen Rune.
Four hundred years passed, and a piece of her died with every stray vampire she had to kill, leaving her bitter and cynical. Though she still loved Rean, and he her, she saw him for the monster he had become, and couldn't forgive him for prolonging his stolen life at the expense of the lives of humans. With the help of a young man named Nash, she ended her old lover's unlife.
Though Rean was her lover, she did not remain faithful to him after he left. She still loved him, of course, but it never stopped her from flirting with other men. Her tastes remain with men she finds 'beautiful,' with those who were naive or easy to fluster being her favorites. Klaus Windamier and the aforementioned Nash Latkje are two noteworthy victims of her merciless teasing.
Far from the naive, idealistic girl who founded the Blue Moon village, Sierra has grown into an arrogant, cynical old woman. She always speaks whatever is on her mind, no matter how rude, and has little patience for those she finds incompetent. She still fancies herself the delicate maiden she appears to be, but when being awoken from a nap prompts heavy objects being thrown at the offender, it's difficult to see her as such. On that note, she sleeps a lot, and for long stretches of time. The average is a few days, but it's not unusual for her to sleep for entire months at a time.
Sierra tends to look down on others, and often treats her associates as her servants. If she wants something, she will twist their words and stubbornly persist until they either back themselves into a corner and agree without realizing it, or give up and humor her just because it's easier than continuing to argue. She really does care, though, she's just terrible at expressing it, and to those who gain her respect, she is a true friend.
Time flows differently for those with immortality, and though she does sometimes see her True Rune as a curse (as do all who come to possess one), she is thankful for it. It allowed her to meet many interesting people and, though brief, enjoy a little bit of genuine happiness in the village.
